Workshop 10/06/18
What a awesome day.....
This was easily one of my favourite workshops ever, from start to finish the models, locations, members and weather was all for us and the images from every single member are completely epic!
I previously shot 2 weddings in Drenagh Estate and loved the vintage style of the rooms and open plan hallway, the estate has a unique feel and huge open plan windows which give tons of natural light and make our job as photographers really easy, I felt this workshop would benefit a wide range of photographers as wedding photography is easily the biggest market for photographers in the UK, from Meath to Belfast the members booked in and all give 110%.
We started with covering the epic hallway and stairs, this was really a platform to see how each member handled off camera flash and the slight confusion it can challenge people at times but from get go everyone was comfortable with the challenge, next we made our way to the various rooms, with 6 models it can become challenging to have them pose or stage a shot but thankfully this time ever model performed on point and followed direction to the book which makes our job a lot lot lot more easier.
I couldn't wait to get to grips with the soft lights outside, we were lucky to have overcast cloud and soft light on our side which makes natural light shots a lot easier to capture and the grounds are really what your paying your model for, the brick ring and stunning gardens give us ample time to really push our art and bring the shots to a different level, the photographers present hit the ground running after lunch and shot like crazy, from drones to off camera flash units flying out our ears the craic and shots were mighty.
After the 6 hour shot we finished up on the bridal suite and as much as people think its easy photography can be exhausting and burn you out with continued shooting, my watch happily let me know I travelled 6 miles or 12,000 steps on the shoot and after a few cups of tae and the feet up at home it was a early night, 2 days later im buzzing seeing each member showing off there own unique work style and sharing information on how this and that was done to each image at Mark Hamill Photography Workshops and Updates page on Facebook.
To round things off Im definitely pushing myself and the boundaries to offer the best photography training workshops in Ireland, Ive a mountain of ideas and some time to implement them but hopefully by the summer I plan to open another wedding and few studio and training ones, keep an eye on the page for support, learning and epic workshops!
